While the governance of the practice is vertical in nature, the work flow is horizontal. We work as a team with each member able to do many different tasks outside his own job description. Therefore, you will be challenged to see the work as a process and expedite it as best you can. As an example, a technician may do a patient work up, discuss different types of bifocals and schedule an appointment for the patient’s daughter for skin care. A doctor may work up his own patient, schedule an appointment and fit a contact lens. A nurse may help a patient with an insurance question and order surgical supplies.
